Dakinikat, told some truth and the boobs at the Booman Tribune went apeshit. Apparently there was an implication that Obama was not as smart as the pods insist or some such Obama Pod "no-no" - the Pods partied like it was 2008 - screams of "racism!!" were enjoyed by all in attendance. As Obama breaks more and more promises the PSP (Pod stupidity parities) will fade- Thank God. Read the post at Cannonfire for a reminder of just how vile and vulgar and STUPID the Obots still are. The moral rot that still animates the pod people is as prevalent as ever.
Because of the lively conversation this morning. I made a list...
List of observations:
1. The conversation, even when it gets ugly, is important. So far at least, I'd rather have a smaller audience than an echo chamber.
2. Dissent matters. Even when it confronts things I (or readers here) hold to be true.
3. Resentment is sometimes a place to start. It is not a place to stay. Processes here vary. I, for one, felt the movement called "Puma" - born of deep anger and resentment - should have evolved quickly into a third party concerned with many issues. In my thinking, an opportunity was lost because that resentment did not morph into a third way. The difficulties of a third party in the U.S. became an excuse to not try. I hold fast to the belief that we need a third way as badly as we ever have in this country. Both the corruption of the Democrats and the GOP impulse toward viciousness and stupidity prove this point. The clock is very much ticking on our "way of life" - we need another way.
(I sometimes process my resentments with outright mockery and humor. Sometimes with nostalgia, sometimes fury.)
4. Learning from the past is important -as long as one stays in the present while learning.
5. Forcing those who got lost in the Obama muck last year to see and hear how wrong they were is part of the process of owning and growing into the next place. This task needs to last as long as it needs to last. When a banner across the Huffington Post and the DailyKos announces WE WERE WRONG ABOUT OBAMA, then it might be time to move on. It would be dishonest for me to say that I did not take some joy in just how wrong the Pod people were. I do. My claims to sainthood are a few incarnations away.
Cannonfire put it succinctly yesterday: I wish to hell that these people would just be honest about what they did. I wish that they would 'fess up to the role they played in foisting this nightmarish presidency on the world. I wish to hell that they would apologize.
Given the level of lies, delusion and deceit around Obama I feel it is nearly an obligation to confront those responsible for foisting this nightmarish presidency on the world.
HOWEVER: If resentment regresses into a sniping victimhood then it is mostly useless.
There is some movement among the worst of the "Obots". A realization with some that they have been had. This is progress. Pressing this point is important for a number of reasons:
-Saving liberals from themselves is a decent, if not exactly noble, cause.
-Obama was and remains a symptom of a larger disease that grew out of the Bush era. The trickery is palpable and needs to be pointed out to the tricked. To ignore this is to assume that the democratic systems are working. One side loses, one wins - that's it. But they are not working. We shall get fooled, yet again, if we do not remember the machinations of the dysfunction.
Though we've seen it all before, there was a quantum leap in the body politic in the level of denial around Obama. It took the full force of the media, an economic collapse, a generalized revulsion toward the incumbent, and many of the biggest loudest blogs to get the man to 52%. As with 2000 - what we have here is evidence that the system itself is broken. The media's capitulation to Obama - and to the pro Iraq invasion meme in '03 - are important and similar indicators. We do not live in the country we are told we live in. Standing against the "manufacturing of consent" is one thing a blog can do and do well.
6. I stated that this was a "grievance" blog. This was:
A. claiming ownership of a word used by a blogger who called all Hillary blogs "grievance blogs".(I should have been clear about that.)
B. An admission that nearly all political blogs are grievance blogs. From Kos to Texas Darlin. Americablog took off because of grievances against Bush era policies. Posts at Cannonfire, Noquarter, and anywhere else one cares to alight are almost always in response to grievances of one sort or another. "Beefs" if you like. RCP is a compendium of writers with grievances. Blogs in the realm of political opinion and political writing are all grievance blogs. Having a grievance in and of itself is not a problem. Making the grievance one's identity is.
7. For the most part the best a political blog can do it point in a direction, give an opinion, make us chuckle, or uncover some facts that may have been missed or underreported. I think this is important: Blogs are blogs. Nothing more, nothing less. The obligation to "report" is a fallacy about blogs that is best avoided. I avoid it by writing opinion almost all the time.
RBO covers the story of the idiots at Common Dreams suddenly waking up to the fact that Obama is a big, skinny, liar. I am not at all surprised that Obama is a big, skinny liar. It is still AMAZING to me that so many liberals are only now coming out of their moronic, self induced Obama stooper.
Take Oped Ed. News which says it is "progressive -tough- liberal" (HA!)and yet the post calling Obama out BHO for dismissing single payer from the conversation states this: The President's response left no doubt that he has taken single-payer healthcare off the table, but his answer lacked the logic and candor we have often come to expect of him.
Emphasis is furiously mine. What planet have these people been on for the last year? There has been no "logic" from Obama, only fancy words weoponized to distort. He is happy to tell us he has a "gift". A gift for distortion and deflection.
As for candor? WTF? !!! The man won't even release his college academic records. 90% of what we know about the man comes from his own hagiographies. Written, one presumes, on holy Chicago parchment. It is impossible to list all the man's flip flops, half ass excuses and dirty ditching of those he stepped over to become POTUS. Start with Alice Palmer - better yet - start with his mystery tour of Pakistan as an undergrad - travel through his mystical unrecorded speech about Iraq that "started it all", the errant nonsense about Wright, the deceits about Iraq, the botching of the Guantanamo closing, the feigned outrage over the AIG bonuses, the strange back flips over torture. Why has no one on the Left noticed that after weeks of bogus hot air, the Obama administration now has, in essense, the Cheney stance on torture. No one on the Left except Ms. Dowd. Surprise. Surprise.

I want to take pleasure in watching the deluded Left wake up. I am that immature. However, the sinking feeling of loss holds me to the sticking point. Obama is nothing more than an errand boy, sent by grocery clerks, to trick us into paying for other people's malfeasance. The Left checked out last year. Took a vacation. And now they have come back to a house wrecked. Destroyed for a generation. Actually, I don't want to say "generation" - the truth is the Left is dead forever in the United States. Slaughtered expertly by George Soros, Goldman Sachs and Barack Obama.
So many people went out of their way to BECOME STUPID in 2008. I have no sympathy left for the bozos who supported Obama unquestioningly.

We who opposed Obama and chose the rational candidate instead demand and deserve an apology from the Dailykos, Ariana Huffington, Keith Olbermann, John Avarosis, and the rest. The Obama Justice department's decision this week to not only embrace Bush's illegal, unconstitutional wiretaps - but to GO FURTHER than Bush ever dreamt of going makes the matter beyond dispute We were right. The pods were wrong.
The behaviour of the Pod people last year must not only be remembered- they must be held to account. Obama is a fraud. We knew it. They refused to see reality and, along the way trashed anyone who questioned them.
I will never let up on this. Obama is a mistake forced on us by fiends like Keith Olbermann and John Avarosis. He is polarizing the nation in ways we are only now seeing - and this will get worse. Watch.

Double digit unemployment and a President -stuck in 2 or 3 or 4 wars - with few answers other than dumping truckloads of increasingly worthless "currency" into the "system" and begging people to go to Wal-Mart-might wake up a few.
Get this: OBAMA IS AN ERRAND BOY, SENT BY GROCERY CLERKS TO COLLECT A BILL. I repeat this line from Apocalypse Now on L.R. for a few reasons. None nearly as nasty as the line implies.
1. This line distills what clearly happened in the election - buttressed further this Fall by the financial meltdown. Therefore it allows a vision of unfolding events from a tangible, illusion less perspective. It is a direct counter point to the "Obama is going to pay my mortgage" meme in all its forms. 2. Part of me does think a kind of apocalypse is upon us NOW. The bill is past due.
To me Barry and Michelle represent the worst of America in many way. Both are gliders. Barry has gamed the system through out his alleged career. Both give off the stink of arrogance with every third public move. (The "Lincoln train ride" to D.C. is sickening. Who in God's name does this man think he is?) But it is his cult that continues to garner my deepest contempt. I see no need to be polite: They are assholes. I write from experience. Even without direct experience with BHO my guess is that he's an asshole, too. Unearned position creates this outcome. Trust me, I work in Hollywood.
It is therefore no surprise that his most ardent fans lapse into assholery. There are no good reasons to support the man. With a 10 month handjob from the media, he glided to the top this year mostly because W is so revolting. There never have been verifiable reasons to support the man. The Obots response to this: don't vet. Lame reasons, usually screamed, continue to stand in for rationality and inquiry.
Millions voted for Obama that I do not loath. The choices were not good. It's the fanatic cult members and their handlers in the media and blogosphere that try my Christian soul.
An unexpected pre-holiday treat has been the freak out amongst the ObamaPod faithful about how moderate Obama's cabinet picks have been so far. Though, I hold many views that are called "progressive" by The Nation and their ilk (I prefer "liberal") I am happy and relieved to see so many Clinton hands on the deck of the good ship Barack. And watching the Kos Kidz head's pop has leapfrogged seeing conservative sexual hypocrites implode for pure delight in my book.
This year I never could decipher if Obama was a Wall Street stooge or a far lefty whiner. It is apparent so far that he favors Wall Street over Marx (Karl) - not the best of choices but I too prefer Wall Street over Marx (Karl) though not over Marx (Groucho). Competence and an active government inside the faux capitalist system we have now is better than shoving champagne socialism with a violent subtext down the throats of us proletarians.
Obama's goal would seem to be competence - hence all the Clinton left overs. Change is taking a back seat to Shift. Often slight shifts by the look of it. Chances are not high that I'll ever end up liking Obama - but I am growing in faith that he is not going to tilt to the far Left and cause chaos. I doubt he'll be popular in a year. He hasn't got the goods or the balls. He is the apex of the celebrity culture in the moment the society must move away from this lethal nonsense or dissolve. That depression you see in your rear view mirror is closer than it appears.
The Clinton middle ground worked wonders in the 90's. In the midst of a depression it may look more like Gerald Ford than FDR.
The media is starting to choke back compulsive adulation and will have to actually question him in a few months. By Summer the vocal Whole Foods Left will be in a state of Ophelia like insanity - throwing itself in the handiest river.
Duh. How stupid were these people? Did they pay attention to Obama at all? Or did they just see a cool non white guy, go into full force smug ecstasy, and stop listening?
Obama does not care about the Pods. They were envelope stuffers and are now no longer useful except to spaz on Olbermann every so often and spam on the Internet when Obama gives the signal.
I admit to not understanding a word of the McCain ad below. However - it goes to my theory that McCain has to knee cap Obama and do it now if he expects to win. I said a few posts ago that Atwater and Rove destroyed Dukakis and Kerry in August of 88 and 04 - and that McCain had wounded Obama but he was still very much in the race. My theory was off in one particular. The Dem convention had already happened when Willie Horton and Swiftboats appeared. This year the DNC held the convention late. McCain has a week before the first debate to throw Obama off badly- which is to say: To get the truth out about Obama to the American people. With a series of ads he appears to be going after it. Call it "negative" if you like. But the equation leaves little room for McCain. Obama has the media on his team. Therefore, the playing field is not even. In addition to the media being a wing of the Obama campaign, BHO has an army of bloggers who gleefully do his "negative" campaigning for him. The media in turn picks up on whatever bile they spew. Compare the media's 10 month silence on Edward's affair (which would have helped Clinton) to their vicious attack on Palin's daughter - a story they sat on for about 43 seconds.
Cannonfire - yet again - has a great post here on just how dangerous and delusional Obama Pods are. McCain must not underestimate this Obama created mob.
Whatever Chavez is saying is sounds awful. And the bleeping of foul language ads to the overall air that the man is a lunatic. McCain is running the ad in Florida. If anyone can give a synopsis of the point of this ad I would appreciate it. Like it or not - all Hillary had to do was run a similar ad in January (in tone, at least) replacing Chavez with Wright - and she would now be the nominee with a 12 point lead.

Now about Larry Sinclair. I write about this merely because it is tragic and vaguely interesting - and speaks volumes about our current culture. Again - the interesting element is not actually the story, it is the wild, rabid and over the top reaction from the Obama Pod Squad. They are out in force foaming about this guy. Why? The overwhelming evidence is that there is nothing to the story. I do not think the Obama Pod overreaction is a case of "they doth protest too much." I can see Obama shaking hands with the devil in the back of limo - but not sucking a crack pipe and being felatted by another man. Call me crazy...
But the pods reaction -wow - they are just insane people who can't abide one second of dissent - even if the dissenter is a loon.
What is wrong with these people? 12,000 emails to the Press Club from the numbnuts at the Cheetos Blog. WTF? Do we need anymore evidence that the Pods are bored, spoiled brats who need to go work on an Amish Farm for the summer? Or join the damn Peace Corps and do some good.
I have no idea if there is a stitch of truth in what Sinclair said at the press club. How could I? My hunch is he is fabricating. It seems like HE believes it though - which points to a sad pathology. He did give odd, striking details. And frankly, the statement he made is both depressing and hilarious. Go read it. And then do something nice for the gay man in your neighborhood who has been broken by bigotry. I promise you there is one.
More than anything, the best and highest response to Larry Sinclair is compassion. Condescending of me? I hope not. That is not my intent. In America circa 2008 we encourage people to cash in their 15 minutes of fame and then we brutalize them. Somehow I don't find this so bothersome when it happens to those with money or fame. The whole event is packaged for us and monetized for them. Maybe I should work on that. Something about the assault on Sinclair by the Obama pods is just too much. For God sake, he's not even telling good lies. Leave it alone.
That the Obama Pod Squad has even seen fit to unleash their bottomless fury on this minor player in the year's drama is so telling. This, again, is who they are.

A good point was made there today about the alleged "free press" in this country. Whatever one thinks about Sinclair it is hard to avoid the pro-Obama bias in the media - and this should have us all worried.
