If one more obot tells me that "Obama closed Gitmo!" I'm liable to kick them in the shins. Okay, in fact, only 3 obots have said this to me - still - one has to wonder if they don't get robo calls from the White House informing them of the day's deflection of choice.
"Obama closed Gitmo!" is thrown out as proof that he is the "change" at least some were waiting for and that he's a man of his word (s). Like so much during the campaign this yelped sentiment is just that, a sentiment. A hope. A political ruffie for the Obama addled.
Obama has not closed Gitmo. Guantanamo is open for business, and holding prisoners as it was under Bush. Early on Obama announced a plan to close Guantanamo. In the past he has announced his intended plans to brings a brigade a month home from Iraq, to fight for a public option, and to publicly finance his election campaign. Those were his plans too.
It was evident - as soon as one found out that the Administration had not made plans for the prisoners held there - that the announcement was foolish and amateurish.
Obama: We're going to close Gitmo!
Anyone with a half functioning brain: What are you going to do with the prisoners, Mr. President?
Obama: I dunno.
We shall see if Guantanamo is closed eventually. Regardless of what the yelping Obots yelp this is what we know:
Guantanamo is open.
The original announcement about closing Gitmo was a P.R. stunt.
The closure, if it happens, will not happen by Obama's self imposed deadline.
That's three whole sentences. I doubt an Obot would let me get to the end of the first one before screaming "Racist!" Nevertheless, Obots:

Apparently there was an implication that Obama was not as smart as the pods insist or some such Obama Pod "no-no" - the Pods partied like it was 2008 - screams of "racism!!" were enjoyed by all in attendance. As Obama breaks more and more promises the PSP (Pod stupidity parities) will fade- Thank God. Read the post at Cannonfire for a reminder of just how vile and vulgar and STUPID the Obots still are. No Difference - that was the slogan of the astroturfed movement of 2000, with their poster of the morphed heads of Gore and Bush. One-hit wonder Ralph Nader was the darling of the Rich and Fickle (think Michael Moore & Susan Sarandon), and those who chanted "No Difference" in 2000 were the same ones clamoring for "Change We Can Believe In" eight years later.

I'll admit that I'd been secretly keeping another list-one of actions taken by Barry that I could be happy with. I (think) I can add the recent credit card legislation. In olden times, the scandalous usury of the credit card lenders would have gotten their appendages fed to wild animals. But the 'happy' list was short to start, and is quickly getting shorter, as most of it (see above) has been scratched. Two remaining plus-points still on my list are also surely in jeopardy:
-Health Care-sure we'll get something called "health care," but it'll be a watered-down, anemic bill that carefully avoids perturbing the big boys;
-Supreme Court appointments-because heaven forbid pro-lifers get that sixth judge they need to overturn Roe...never mind. You can bet on this mischievous little shit of a pretend president poking his finger in the eye of his ardent leftist base, and nominating some controversial (pro-life? anti-gay?) judge. And the Senate will bleat "bahh bahh," just like they did for the original Caligula.
Where's Barry's glitterati brigade to defend him now? When will George Clooney clarify his main man's apparent perfidy? Why won't Leo give an interview in Parade on how keeping Gitmo open helps him find closure to his grandparents' racism? Could Scarlett Johanssen please text the president immediately and insist he support gay marriage!
I had Barry pegged as an empty suit years ago, after hearing his vapid, mellifluous speech (he only has the one speech) followed by an interview composed of "uhhs", and "errrs." Watching him closely in 2008, I detected uncanny personality similarities between him and another upstart political phenom, Hitler. (Though hopefully Barry is too big a stoner to share Hitler's feverish world vision.)
So for me, all of Barry's seemingly inconsistent moves make perfect sense when you realize he's a sociopathic narcissist- lazy, self-absorbed, emotionally dead, and infantile.
Still I wonder, is BO's Bush III act in any way eroding Obot Nation's devotion? Since it requires extensive mental lacunae to fall for the "no difference" and "change we an believe in" mantras, I doubt very many of the ninnies on the left will ever recognize they've been had. That their Messiah is false, that Barry Soetoro merely a charlatan, stealing hearts at a traveling show. That the party on the left is now the party on the right, and the list of lies has grown longer overnight. Or, as Gunter Grass' Oskar icily notes in Tin Drum, "we thought we were getting Santa Claus...but we were really getting the Gas Man."
Head over there is you feel you can stomach the Pod excuses, which he continues to dutifully catalogue. And God bless him for doing the vomit inducing task of reading the repellent high delusions of the most hardened Obots.
Read the post - but my answer is this: Obots remain a kool-aid drunk mob with no concept of the troubles on the horizon. Being entirely fueled by a dangerous fantasy spoon fed into their infantile heads (by people who are NOT like you and me) the Obots have yet to demonstrate the slightest capacity for contextualizing the reality of Obama. Double digit unemployment and a President -stuck in 2 or 3 or 4 wars - with few answers other than dumping truckloads of increasingly worthless "currency" into the "system" and begging people to go to Wal-Mart-might wake up a few.
Get this: OBAMA IS AN ERRAND BOY, SENT BY GROCERY CLERKS TO COLLECT A BILL. I repeat this line from Apocalypse Now on L.R. for a few reasons. None nearly as nasty as the line implies.
1. This line distills what clearly happened in the election - buttressed further this Fall by the financial meltdown. Therefore it allows a vision of unfolding events from a tangible, illusion less perspective. It is a direct counter point to the "Obama is going to pay my mortgage" meme in all its forms. 2. Part of me does think a kind of apocalypse is upon us NOW. The bill is past due.
To me Barry and Michelle represent the worst of America in many way. Both are gliders. Barry has gamed the system through out his alleged career. Both give off the stink of arrogance with every third public move. (The "Lincoln train ride" to D.C. is sickening. Who in God's name does this man think he is?) But it is his cult that continues to garner my deepest contempt. I see no need to be polite: They are assholes. I write from experience. Even without direct experience with BHO my guess is that he's an asshole, too. Unearned position creates this outcome. Trust me, I work in Hollywood.
It is therefore no surprise that his most ardent fans lapse into assholery. There are no good reasons to support the man. With a 10 month handjob from the media, he glided to the top this year mostly because W is so revolting. There never have been verifiable reasons to support the man. The Obots response to this: don't vet. Lame reasons, usually screamed, continue to stand in for rationality and inquiry.
Millions voted for Obama that I do not loath. The choices were not good. It's the fanatic cult members and their handlers in the media and blogosphere that try my Christian soul.
