I read the story Jay posted about how the Wright Stuff is not going away. I also read the comments.
From Obama supporters - we need to move on. He isn't responsible for the Reverend's words. He already explained everything in his speech. We don't understand the black community. What Reverend Wright said wasn't that bad because he didn't incite violence.
Politico had a story about WE NEED MORE WHITE PEOPLE!! Once again the comments were - everyone does it - (I thought Senator Obama was different) - Clinton does it too - must be a slow news day if you're writing about this. And I LOVE this one - Elton John said America can go to Hell and he once hugged Senator Clinton. Talk about a stretch. The writer was also called a Hillary Shill. MUST NOT REPORT ANY BAD NEWS. Oh, and it was the campaign coordinator's fault because he or she was working entirely on their own with no direction whatsoever from the top.
Have you heard the story about the Obama delegate who called black kids climbing trees "monkeys?" Actually, she said they were "like monkeys." She was given a ticket for disturbing the peace. I can't imagine the woman is a racist because she supports Senator Obama. But the comments, once again, from Obama supporters state that this, too is a non-story.
Anything slightly, or grossly, bad about Senator Obama is a non-story. Who cares about Rezko? His friend William Ayers? We don't want to know. Voting Present to avoid taking a stand. Oh, you're silly for wanting to talk about why he would do that.
He has had one job in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee: chairman of the Europe and NATO subcommittee. He has not held a single policy hearing in that capacity because, as he said in a debate, he has been too busy running for president. He has not even taken a fact-finding trip or provided any other oversight.
But he lived abroad when he was a child! He's been too busy to actually do the job he was elected to do. There's nothing happening with NATO that he would need to have any hearings about - Afghanistan? Please. President Bush wanting to add countries to NATO, so what, I'm sure it's fine and doesn't require any oversight.
If you put your fingers in your ears, close your eyes and sing a song you can block out everything. It's great for scary movies (I hate them) but no so fab for chosing a President.
If Senator Obama wins the nomination it is going to get ugly. Everything we're not supposed to bring up will be plastered on your TV. Reverend Wright will get more than his fifteen minutes. And John McCain will be President.
