David Letterman can go to hell.

Freemenow has all the Letterman advertisers contact info listed here. I link it for this reason: If - for example - Jon Voight were making the rounds mocking the children of say...Joe Biden...in a blatantly bigoted way the alleged Left would be insane with rage. The fact that Letterman's continued jokes have to do with - there is no other word - rape- triples the fury that real liberals, - and conservatives, and libertarians, and all decent people should be expressing.

I repeat: The Left sold its soul last year utterly and completely - at a bargain rate I might add. What it got in trade was a confused, narcissistic, statist who doesn't give a shit about any "social justice" that might lower his poll ratings. The attack on gays in the military goes on with the help of his Justice department, mountains are being blown up in West Virginia, hundreds of civilians have been slaughtered by Obama approved drones in Pakistan.

Good call "liberals". Sure glad you "won." Boy Howdy, I'm glad that evil McCain/Palin ticket didn't win. Maybe then 43 mountains would be blown to hell and back and not just 42.

Let us call the Obama Pod People what they are finally and forever: fucking amoral morons.

The Left has castrated itself with eyes wide shut and a smile on its face - and yes, I get the irony of the male metaphor in this case.

During the course of 2008 the media and the Obamablogs made it perfectly acceptable for people who claimed to stand for "social justice" to attack, debase, insult, and degrade any woman they did not agree with. Mostly - but not exclusively, and let's be clear here, they insulted working class women. Which is why Palin - who could actually feed her family if she had to with a rifle and a knife and has no Ivy league degree on the wall - was such a juicy target for the Huffpo/Kos goons. The atmosphere of degradation was re-created last year during the mindless, sexist assault on Clinton.

Every bit of my belief system regarding true egalitarianism is now affronted by the Letterman debacle. The silence on most of the Left is grotesque. So where are they? The most disheartening truth may be that many women and men on the Left don't see any problem with the verbal assault on a 14 year old girl who happens to be the child of a conservative. Also please remember this: It is not merely about sexism - it is about class as well. It is open season on poor and middle class whites. If the economy continues to stagger the attacks on and demonization of the poor and middle class will increase.

The entire point of all progressive movements has been that everyone get a place at the table. This has now been completely submerged - if not destroyed. Which, of course, was probably the point of Soros creating Obama in the first place.

The Left attacked women last year with the glee of the racists who watched lynchings in the 1930s. An don't let the bogus "she's 18 now" excuse cloud the point. Sullivan and his ilk went nutters on Britol Palin when she was 17.
Letterman's excuse that he meant the 18 year old Palin daughter and his appalling "apology" are despicable. He is either lying to get more Palin punching mileage in or is not man enough to own that the original vulgarity demanded that he make a sincere apology.

The Chicago Tribune has called for a real apology. They are correct.

Again I repeat: It is not the Right that is lost. In fact, the Right has its bearings in hand. They are weakened now - but not lost. The "Left" is in power but utterly without a core. It is Left that is staggering.

Politics and Media News from Carolyn - Orwell edition

Politics is no longer a matter of Lying vs. Truth but Which Lie Do You Like? - Joseph Cannon at Cannonfire

    Politics and Media News

Obama on National Security: I Am Doing the Right Things; I Have Not Broken Campaign Promises (by Prof. Darren Hutchinson at Dissenting Justice)
Ironically, Obama, who ran as the antiwar candidate, is now the "war" president. He is the commander-in-chief in two ongoing offenses, including one in which he has authorized a "surge." As proof that his antiwar rhetoric is a distant memory, Obama has delivered a speech to justify his Bush-esque national security policy against liberal (and Cheney's) criticism in a building that houses the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights, which rank among the most enduring of American symbols. This is a long road from the flag pin controversy...

Obama is, as Reverend Wright accurately stated during the campaign, a politician. All presidents before him were politicians as well. I was stunned that liberals refused to see this. So, to the formerly effusive and uncritical Left: I told you so.

RNC AD: Guantanamo - To close it? To close it not?

New GOP Ad Compares Threat Of Closing Guantanamo To Nuclear War (by Greg Sargent at The Plum Line)
The Republican National Committee has a new Web ad that appears to suggest that the stakes of the Guantanamo issue are as high as those of the Cold War nuke standoff...The ad references the famous 1964 "Daisy" ad that Lyndon Johnson ran against challenger Barry Goldwater, which featured a little girl plucking daisy petals while a voiceover counted down to a nuclear detonation...Dems...have fallen into the GOP's trap by letting them drive the Gitmo debate.
Those of us who voted for Goldwater (yes, it was a lifetime ago) used to say, "They told us if we voted for Goldwater there would be war, and I did, and there is."- Caro
You may not be surprised to learn that fear has won the Guantanamo battle:
Supermax Prisons in U.S. Already Hold Terrorists (Washington Post)
In news conferences, speeches and debates this week, lawmakers from both parties, as well as the director of the FBI, have sounded alarms about moving Guantanamo Bay detainees to federal prisons, where they could launch riots, hatch radical plots or somehow be released among the populace...But the apocalyptic rhetoric rarely addresses this: Thirty-three international terrorists, many with ties to al-Qaeda, reside in a single federal prison in Florence, Colo., with little public notice.
The apocalyptic rhetoric doesn't have to bear any relation to the real world, although it tends to be more effective when there is some tiny kernel of truth in it somewhere. The rhetoric is intentionally apocalyptic and would be just as loud if those spouting it were yelling the opposite of what they're screaming about today. In fact, tomorrow they may well be shrieking the exact opposite of what they're bawling today. Because the purpose is not to bring understanding, or to persuade, but to intimidate. The right wing has been doing it for a very long time and has been pretty successful up until they practically destroyed the country with their version of governing.- Caro
Obama's civil liberties speech (by Glenn Greenwald at Unclaimed Territory, Salon)
Obama's speech [Thursday] … was fairly representative of what Obama typically does: effectively defend some important ideals in a uniquely persuasive way and advocating some policies that promote those ideals (closing Guantanamo, banning torture tactics, limiting the state secrets privilege) while committing to many which plainly violate them (indefinite preventive detention schemes, military commissions, denial of habeas rights to Bagram abductees, concealing torture evidence, blocking judicial review on secrecy grounds). Like all political officials, Obama should be judged based on his actions and decisions, not his words and alleged intentions...

Judge Obama on his actions???What, WHAT, WHATTTT? Wow...I sure wish the Left had thought of that last year - JSOM

The Thought Crimes President (by Ian Welsh, thanks to Alegre)
People who have committed no crime which can be proved in a court of law, including the crime of conspiracy, will be held indefinitely without a trial. Note that Obama wants to use military commissions to try some detainees, which means that these detainees can’t be found guilty of anything even under military law. This is punishment for a thought crime...

"Liberal" Mallet Heads at Common Dreams

"Common Dreams" a heretofore whiney but nevertheless sometimes good left wing site with an truly ironic name - sent out a fundraising email that includes a pic which claims "Tim McVeigh would love The Tea Party"... taken furtively at the Oklahoma City Tea Party. Screen grab posted here.
Apparently they think invoking Tim McVeigh in Oklahoma City is cute...cuz you know - those who attended Tea Parties also support this....duh.. everyone in Brentwood, at Arriana Huffington's cocktail parties, and in Rachel Maddow's green room knows this.

Funny, I just perused Common Dreams and see nothing on the Obama Justice Department's destruction of civil liberties... but hey who has time for principles?!! Obama gives me a hope hard-on and he won! That's all that matters! Whoo Hoo!

It is hard to express just how cold blooded and brain dead these "tolerant", lazy, fatuous, entitled, rich, liberals at Common Dreams are in equating a mass murderer to those exercising the right of assembly - in Oklahoma City, no less - and then using the pic to raise money!

Look down, "liberal" mallet heads- what you see slipping away beneath you is the moral high ground....forever...You have become what you once loathed.

My God, I wish some liberals would emerge that were not full of steaming shit. I'd take Hubert Humphrey at this point. Paul Wellstone... Bella Abzug.... anyone???

No Lunch Break today.... had to get this piece posted...

    mocking liberals

Linked here is an article mocking liberals.

Yet that's just the sort of "big change" Barack Obama has provided in the two months since winning over the man Democrats derided as "McBush." Even worse for the Left, Obama advisers are now signaling, says the New York Times, "that they may put off renegotiating the North American Free Trade Agreement, overhauling immigration laws, restricting carbon emissions, raising taxes on the wealthy and allowing gay men and lesbians to serve openly in the military."

Add in the flip flops we've already seen and on all major policy fronts, Obama has lied, will lie, or is lying as I type.

I want to make clear 2 things:

    1. I AM NOT surprised by Obama's rightward shift. I knew he was a fraud months ago. Therefore I never expected real policy changes. Obama was hired to put a new face on protecting the same elites. His behavior fits the D.C. mold perfectly. He is an errand boy, sent by grocery clerks... etc etc

    2. As a mostly unreconstructed FDR/Scoop Jackson liberal I am, in fact, gleeful to see the Geffen/Huffington/liberal white guilt/cocktail party/I love the workers- I just don't want them near me/Maureen Dowd types - get mugged and ditched in the alley.

It is so easy to mock this bunch now. They behaved childishly for over a year. It is satisfying to see the fools get thrown into the cold moat.

    False Hope Springs Eternal

By virtue of the fact that I learned in 2008 to severely limit my media and liberal blog intake (I just could not fathom how BADLY the left was being deceived and how happily they were participating in the deception.) my reading does become a bit of an echo chamber. So be it. The stunning on going double think of the Progs at Kos and elsewhere in fascinating and edifying.

Turns out the faux liberals are really stupid.

I limit the impulse to read any of it -except to gloat.

Cannonfire again points up the faux liberal cognitive dissonance regarding Obama still rampant on the Left. Anyone who did some cursory research knows this already: Obi has a rare chance to change the game. But he won't.

The operative word in the sentiment is "rare". What is truly historic about this moment is not Obama's non WASPiness. His half blackness was, and is, an excuse white liberals hide behind to avoid looking at just how status quo a politician he is. (At its core it is also breathtakingly condescending.)

It is an exceedingly rare opportunity for a truly progressive government to emerge in the U.S. 1932 is the only other moment I know of in the last 100 years that a liberal government had a shot. Historical rewrites aside: Much good came from 1932. Starvation among the elderly was a real problem in pre FDR America. The rights of workers were severely limited. The financial system, now gutted by deregulation, was forced by FDR into a degree of transparency. A woman in a cabinet was unheard of before FDR. Not to mention Eleanor Roosevelt's drastic reconstitution of the First Lady's role. The New Deal did not end the Depression. It did, however, reshape our view of the elected Federal Government. It did open an era in American life in which the middle class could eventually flourish - the harshest aspects of Capitalism having been reigned in.

1980 codified a new conservative era. Conservatives like to blame the 60s - but the self indulgent society we now have springs from the 80s not the 60s. The conservatives have failed on an epic scale. On all fronts. 2008 is a moment when a true leader could have emerged to transform the landscape yet again. It is increasingly clear Obama has no intention of being that leader. He intends to be liked. Which will be his undoing. Since his election he's done everything imaginable to limit the "change wave" that brought him to victory - to tamp down expectations - to signal that the Rs will change to Ds but the elite will remain the elite. The "pigs at the trough", as Ms. Huffington called them, have different names but troughs will remain in place. I see no difference between what would have been Bush's policies if he had another year and what will be Obama's. Which is, of course, the point. Hawks on the foreign front and Wall Street types at home. Debt our way into a recovery and war our way abroad.

(As of today we know the U.S. presence in Afghanistan will be doubled. I mention this not because I disagree - I don't - but because the Obama Pod lies were so severe about the wars. Obama WILL NOT change this policy. Nor will there be a speedy exit from Iraq.)

The difference between Adams and Jefferson or Hoover and Roosevelt was extraordinary. The difference between W and Obama thus far is entirely in style and not substance. Unless he becomes someone else rapidly he will be a place holder for the next GOP majority in 4 years. Again this is, in all likelihood, the point. Would McCain have changed the landscape? No. Absolutely not. However, he would have added intelligence and decency back into the mix as the conservative era ended. And Hillary? Would she have midwifed a new era? Not the Clinton of 2007. But by the last primaries of 08 the answer was a clear YES. The choice confronting the superdelegates in June was between a woman who had earned her stripes and a fad no one knew much about who happened to be half-black. The Democratic "leadership" having replaced principles with slogans - made the obvious, and easy, choice.

The reason the media overlords and the libertarian Huffington crew were so ecstatic about Obama all along is simple: He is one of them, and they knew it. Obama was the perfect illusion of change, without being change at all. Wall Street gets a bailout, women get a supporting role, the war gets moved, and gays need to stop "whining."

    Change has come, indeed.

The Obama media and Barack blogs continue to make excuses for him. I joked that the more I found out about Obama the more I thought his non Waspiness was the only thing I did like about him. But not being white is not a qualification for a thinking real post racial person. He came from corruption, and was abetted by corruption. Even if one won't say he is corrupt himself, he certainly is beholden to it. A distinction with absolutely no difference. It remains galling to see the Left continue to encourage their own descent into irrelevancy. The liberal calling cards of "hand up not hand out" and "economic fairness" are dead, killed by identity politics in the service of the status quo and Caroline's annoying ascension.

There are no liberals in Obama's inner circle. One would think the Obama/Dean liberals might take the hint. Instead we are having another round of the faux Left's favorite drinking game: "He's just a politician" - I guess one throws one back every time Obama betrays another part of his base.

I really admire places like Cannonfire and Riverdaughter for not flinching before the year's Obamamania. It's been no small task to stand up to the shitstorm of half truths and errant nonsense. The facts betrayed Obama all along. This is why he needed the entire super structure of American media to garner 52% of the vote -in 2008 after 8 years of W, by all rights, he should have had 64% easily. Watching one media outlet after another grudgingly admit bias is both sickening and sadly satisfying.

Still, they got their man: The agent of change who will change almost nothing.

As for the Left making excuses and feigning outrage: Go to hell. If they haven't learned how the game is played after 30 years of Atwater and Rove and refused to see the Obama Trojan horse (though it was plain as day) then there is no hope and they deserve no power. The planning and execution of Operation Make Obama President has been amazing.

Obama's true motto: For the elites, by the elites, so the elites shall not perish.

What many white liberals are still seeing is the symbol they elected. A garish topper on a 30 year whine festival Christmas tree. Maybe that is the final out for them. In reality the cynicism is so embedded that a symbol is all they really wanted. The best antidote for cynicism when all real hope is gone? False hope. False hope does, after all, spring eternal too.

If this was an argument between blacks and hispanics...

Some Obama Pod emailed me yesterday regarding my link to the Sacramento Bee article about Prop 8 and the black vote. He/She said I was "telling lies to stoke racism."

I just want to state for the record I am telling the truth to stoke racism, dammit!

    being sarcastic... relax...

Actually I linked the article to make the point that:

    A. I am not the only person seeing a 70% "yes" vote on 8 from AAs (which is 28% higher than any other ethnic group.) as a disheartening reality for Gay people.
    B. To make the point that hiding from the truth - however uncomfortable - is unworthy of liberals, and dangerous in the public sphere. This is, in fact, the focus of this blog all year.
If this was an argument between blacks and hispanics in Watts all sorts of do gooders would have moved to set up commissions and outreach programs to address it.
But, somehow, bigotry against gays from one ethnic group is off limits for discussion, since gays don't really matter and blacks must retain their ultimate victim title in Left wing circles. This crap is promoted by rich white "intellectuals" and black "leaders" (Sharpton, Jackson) AA's first place victim status must be renewed forever regardless of the progress of black Americans and the attitude changes of white Americans - and most damaging - regardless of the harm it does to black youth. Don't think the murder rate in south central has anything to do with having victimhood forever reinforced and encouraged? You are wrong.

Gays who have swallowed this nonsense whole are now blaming the Mormons - they are a safe scapegoat since they are overwhelmingly white and seen as overwhelmingly odd...though Mormons comprise a tiny portion of California's population they did supply a lot of cash to Yes on 8. Still, in this case, blaming the money and not the voters is like cops arriving at a crime in progress and arresting the gun and not the criminal. No on 8 had plenty of cash. They clearly did not understand the attitudes of one large voting block.

At any rate, here's another piece on this issue. This one is from the Miami Herald.
When, for instance, they use an obscure passage from the Bible to claim God has ordained the mistreatment of gays, don't they hear an echo of white people using that Bible to claim God ordained the mistreatment of blacks?

    Lunch Break! Posh Nosh!

Way off topic- but this clip is over the top hilarious. Thanks to Jay for sending me this...Enjoy!

Thoughts for later posts either tonight or Friday:

    * Obama Pod contempt for the working class and how it expresses itself. Further: How to identify it in self described "liberals."

This came up in a comment on a post last night. Some pod could not or would not respond directly to my post about BHO using a terrorist organization for security - he/she attacked me personally (Typical. This person wrote as if he/she knew me - they do not - and it is a comment full of inaccuracies.)

HOWEVER: he/she tried to insult me by insulting those who do clerical work. This is typical Huffington/Geffen/Dean/Obama - faux liberalism. A true contempt for workers ALWAYS appears eventually. It is a liberalism based in entitlement and "we know better than you" condescension. There is nothing egalitarian or classically liberal about what these frauds want.
In fact, they hate the working class. More later...

    or

    * The arrogance of the trip overseas - will there be a backlash? I wonder.
