    Afternoon Interjection.

Bishop Gene Robinson will be a guest on the The Daily Show tonight. Bishop Robinson is the first openly gay bishop in the Anglican Communion, and an all around good guy. He gives a sermon at my church about once a year and is invariably, insightful, delightful, funny, and humble.

Here are some bits from the last one I saw.

*More and more I am convinced that the Christian life is not about life after death. It's about life before death...

*So, this lawyer then pushes the point and says: "So what must I do?' And Jesus' answer in this story seems to be, "Love that costs, love that actually costs us something, costs us time, costs us money, costs us focus, costs us convenience. Love that actually costs us something."

*And if we had waited until women were valued as equal and full members of society and the human race for goodness sakes, all of that discrimination would still exist. Does anyone think that if those eleven women hadn't been irregularly ordained in
Philadelphia that we would be ordaining women yet?

    Lunch Break

Newsflash: There are times I like Obama.

Getting By: Ennui Gas may help people get through the current tough times.

How did I miss this? Porn moguls request bailout.

Ignora Sonora at your own risk: Will Mexico fail? Some people think so. Drug demand in the U.S., fueling rampant violence in Mexico, combined with the sudden tumble in oil prices all mean...???...two large and important states bear consideration for a rapid and sudden collapse: Pakistan and Mexico, says the study

FYI: Mexico collapsing is another "peak oiler" prediction that is now inching into the main stream. It is funny going back and reading Peak Oil Doomers rants about the impending housing collapse, the financial ponzi schemes that would implode, and wild oil price fluctuations about to commence...all on on minor sites in the outerblogosphere...in the midst of an economic recovery that everyone thought would go one and on...and then reading today's headlines... ah... gotta say the doomers are batting about 750.

Personal interjection: With everything that became clear to me last year my happiness at the end of Bush has been muted. But Hill on the hill today at her confirmation hearings prompted a wave of relief - the Bush crap is OVER. Finally. Thank GOD. I have less than low expectations for Obama. But Ms. Clinton is a big leaguer as Lugar put it. I am happy as hell she is about to become the most powerful woman on the planet.

Music: Philip Glass - Koyaanisqatsi - remember that film? I wonder if it has held up?
