Democracy is not ascendant. It is not dominant. It is beleaguered. The extent to which young people have been drawn away from public concerns and given this extraordinary range of diversions makes it very likely they could then rally to a demagogue.

I know I am more of a "doomer" than most readers here. All I want is for everyone to pay close. attention. I want to be wrong about the tsunami I see coming. In this case, I want to be a kook.
