Why didn't she just say "no"?
Previously, I've snarked that in the end we will all be libertarians. This is not my preference and my snark is not meant to be hopeful. It's embedded in my pessimism about where we are headed...toward becoming a well fed, failed state. The 2 parties will fail - or one will succeed wildly via extra Constitutional means (the authoritarian streaks in both parties continues to rise.) leaving us plebes to defend our ourselves or go along with which ever personality cult has gripped the nation at the moment.
Case in point: Pelosi is asked if it fair that people will go to jail for not buying health insurance. I haven't the faintest idea if jail time for those who refuse to buy insurance is in the House bill. Haven't done the research. But why didn't she just say: "No, of course not. That's not in the bill." when she answered? That is the American answer after all. THAT can't happen here...right?
Whatever the bill says it had better not include prison time for refusing to buy coverage. Unless, of course, the powers that be, want to incite a revolution.
