The community organizer POTUS makes a lot of messes.
Why has no one pointed out that on health care the "community organizer" President is remarkably unorganized? This is his signature issue after all. I suspect that the truth behind his work as community organizer is the same as the truth behind all the jobs he's held: He's a dilettante. He alights in all his jobs. Taking credit where it is not due, and moving on.
He has mangled health care as badly as Clinton did. The alleged great intellect of Obama did not learn from Clinton's mistakes. He simply avoided them and made a new batch. More inexplicable is that he's got a team loaded with people who were present at that failure.
Because he is lazy unless it involves personal veneration, Obama punted this issue to congress. (He did this with the stimulus, too.) This "tactic" put him in a position of playing defence because he's not sure what he's selling. There is no offensive game plan. Apparently there never was. This, in turn, has given those opposed the "plan" -whatever it is - space to fill in the gaps. And 6 weeks to do it.
I keep being startled by how weak an executive Obama is. This hardly seems possible. I've been on to the guy for years now. Yet, he gets caught flat footed with alarming regularity. He insults cops, is behind the curve on bonuses, chose a VP that insults major countries and generally makes an ass of himself and his boss every other week, he insults our oldest allies with boneheaded gifts, he allowed the Speaker to shove cap and trade through before health care (which will turn out to be seen as a huge error in judgement), he foolishly announced the closure of Gitmo without a plan, his Attorney General and friend took office and promptly called us all cowards, his administration went schitzo on the CIA, announcing and retracting policy...
At some point even the most kool aid addled have to realize the man is a weak executive. The one executive skill Obama does have is the ability to put out fires. Usually one he's started and usually with the back up of a compliant media.
The most notable highlight of his first 7 months was engineered by the Clintons. Let that marinate. The return of the two Americans from captivity in North Korea is likely to be seen in retrospect as the Obama Administration's one unsullied victory in its first 7 months. All Obama's other "victories" are perfunctory policies shifts that any Democratic President would have taken.
The legend of the great community organizer is dying a slow, agonizing death.
